There are many general hospitals and specialized clinics in Daejeon. General hospitals equipped with cutting-edge medical equipment provide and various medical treatments with the help of their specialized doctors. Usually, you may have a long wait as these hospitals serve for a large number of patients. At smaller specialized clinics, where treatment is often easier ans faster to obtain, one or two doctors generally provide special medical services like internal medicine or pediatrics. International Health Service Center of Eulji University Hospital
The IHSC opened on June 23, 2004 with the aim of meeting the medical needs of 34,000 foreign residents in Daejeon and the surrounding areas. The IHSC has four medical doctors (specializing in endocrinology, surgery and rheumatism), nurses, and translators who speak English, Japanese and Chinese.

International Clinic Center of Sun General Hospital
The International Clinic Center of Sun General Hospital was opened January 2004 to meet the medical needs of foreign people. There are eight medical doctors specializing in orthopedics, internal medicine, surgery, pediatrics, and gynecology, spine, and joints. Some of the nurses speak English or other foreign languages.

Konyang International Health Care Center
KIHCC opened in November, 2008 with the aim of providing medical services for foreigners. It has doctors and nurses who can speak English, Japanese or German as well as other manpower with a good command of Chinese or Vietnamese to help foreigners with their medical needs. The center also offers tailored services for patients so that they can receive treatment within 24 hours of emergency.
Appointment can be made by fax, e-mail or online, and in case of emergency, patients can receive medical service by calling just before arrival.

Oriental (Korean) Medical Hospital
Oriental Medicine in Korea is based on Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM), and is also called Korean Traditional Medicine.
Although the Korean one is significantly influenced by TCM, it has developed its own unique ways of diagnosis and treatment. For instance, acupuncture techniques such as Ssam, Taegeuk, and Hand Acupuncture, etc. are not found in TCM.
Another feature of Korean medicine is Sasang Constitutional Medicine which classifies people into four types (Taeyangin, Taeeumin, Soyangin and Soeumin), and treats each person differently according to his or her body constitution. In Korea today more and more people show interest fusion medicine, which combines traditional medicine with modern medicine.
There are many oriental clinics and four oriental hospitals in Daejeon. The large hospitals in the city are Daejeon Oriental Hospital of Daejeon University located in Daeheung-dong, and Dunsan Oriental Hospital of Daejeon University based in Dunsan-dong. Daejeon Oriental Hospital specializes in palsy.

Public Health Center
The Public Health Center is run by the government and it can be seen in both cities and‘ guns’. In smaller districts like‘ eup’and‘ myeon’ they perform simple treatments and their medical fee is inimal.
Public health centers provide tuberculosis and blood tests as well as regular check-ups for pregnant women and immunization for free or at reasonable prices. In addition, the center offers various classes on health for residents. As each public health center offers different treatments, foreigners are advised to find out what specific treatments it offers before visiting. When visiting the health center, you should bring your alien registration card with you.
